The "Death" series consists of five paintings completed in black acrylic paint, black ink, and gold ink on raw cut wood. I created the paintings as a discussion on the subject of death. I personally thing about death, how I will die, the meaning of life, what it means to live, what it means to die, and what happens when we die.... CONSTANTLY. This project was a way for me to put into images what I can not put into words.
Broken Flower - This painting discusses how we are born, we grow, we live, and suddenly, in death, all our planning, hoping, and wishing is brought to an end.
Crying Eye - This painting discusses the fear and terror that is associated with confronting death. It also discusses seeing through our fears and accepting our fate, understanding the infinite, and embracing enlightenment.
Decaying Skull - This painting discusses the more physical aspects of death - decomposition of the body, and the transfer of energy from our body into the earth.
Woman Reincarnated - This painting discusses the transcendence of the soul, and rebirth through reincarnation. Leaving our human shell, shedding our skin, and becoming our next self.
Gone & Forgotten - This painting discusses the passing of life -- leaving this world behind and being completely forgotten in time. The sun and moon rise and fall, time passes, and the world continues on as it always has. Like you've never existed at all.
